California Is Heading for a Crisis
With its senior population expected to nearly double by 2030, California is heading for a crisis. In November, voters must elect a governor with a master plan — one that addresses the cost and delivery of services our seniors need to age safely and with dignity.

Why We Stand With Seniors
MALNUTRITION
50% of seniors are at risk for malnutrition, which contributes to poor health and higher costs for care.
GERIATRIC-FOCUSED ACUTE CARE
48% of patients visiting emergency rooms in 2013 were over the age 65. About half were admitted to the hospital.
Up to 90% of poor health in the elderly can be attributed to social, behavioral and economic causes, which supportive services help address.
70% of Californians aged 65 or older have at least one chronic condition. As the number of Californians over age 65 increases, the need for better care strategies will skyrocket.
48% of seniors have not been to the dentist in five years or longer and 32% say the condition of their teeth and mouth is poor. Medicare does not cover dentist visits.
